Course Outline:

1) Learn the context of 5S

2) Discover how 5S facilitates improvement programs such as Lean and 6σ

3) Study the implementation sequence

4) Learn about the tools and techniques needed to successfully implement and maintain a 5S process

5) Plan and define responsibilities

6) Carryout a 5S site evaluation, red-tag unneeded items and sketch 5S Maps; and, initiate: a Red-Tag Register, a 5S Sustainment Schedule, a 30-Day Action Log and a Story Board

7) Learn about the '7 Great Wastes' and discover where they exist in your organization

Course materials include colorfully illustrated handouts, a 100-page course workbook;  interactive exercises,  forms and examples.

Participant's average test score on the 14-point post assessment was 96%.

Working in teams, participants:

1) carried out a 5s Site Evaluation;

2) sketched 5s Maps;

3) 'red-tagged' hundreds of unneeded items for disposition;

4) developed a 30-day Action Log;

5) prepared a Sustainment Schedule; and,

6) laid out a Story Board to communicate 'the before', and the team's progress - 'the after'.
